The ocean line was inspired by my desire to honor precious sea creatures and shells from the ocean.
I was living at U.C. Santa Barbara off-campus and would ride my bicycle along the ocean trail early in the morning. One morning the marine biology students were pulling in a net with tiny sea creatures attached to it. They were returning them back into the ocean. This reminded me of the Hawaiian Hukilau. I asked if I could have a few specimens. I was inspired to honor them forever.
The starfish, the seahorse, the nautilus and the triton will be turned into gold!
An abalone driver at the Santa Barbara harbor had just come in from the Channel Islands. He gave me a tiny Oh beautiful abalone!
I donate to the Kona seahorse foundation ocean rider seahorse farm in Kailua Kona on the big island to help save this endangered species. seahorse.com
